Subcommittees formed, call for student volunteers, and request for feedback

On Sept. 25, 2024, Lafayette College will have the honor of hosting the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate in Kirby Sports Center. While preparations for this exciting event involve significant organization, there will also be many opportunities to celebrate and get involved.

Call for student volunteers:

Volunteer to assist during the dozens of events leading up to and during the VP Debate. Hundreds of volunteers will be needed over several weeks to make this a successful event.

Please note: we are currently looking for student volunteers only at this time. There will be additional opportunities for faculty and staff at a later date.

Subcommittees:

The VP Debate Operations Planning Group has been meeting regularly to plan logistics for the debate and campus events. This spring, subcommittees were established to enhance collaboration and planning. Each subcommittee, made up of a mix of faculty, staff, and students, provides regular updates and recommendations to the Planning Group. Subcommittees designations, and their missions, are as follows:

  • Volunteering: Plan for recruiting, engaging, and managing student volunteers for debate events, media, logistics, and more
  • Community Outreach: Identify groups in Easton and the Lehigh Valley as potential partners for planning and programming
  • Student and Alumni Engagement/Events: Develop a framework for student and alumni outreach and programming during the weeks leading up to the debate
  • Academics: Engage faculty and community in an effort to incorporate debate planning into courses, speakers, and other educational opportunities

Submit feedback:

The Academics and Student and Alumni Engagement/Events Subcommittees request feedback on debate planning, event ideas, questions, and comments.
